Customer FAQ

Simply upload up to 5 photos of your repair or construction need. Our AI, powered by Claude Vision, analyzes the images to identify the trade required, the severity of the issue, and an estimated cost range. The entire analysis takes just seconds and responds in your preferred language.
You are only charged for actual hours worked, rounded up to the nearest whole hour with a minimum of 1 hour. When you select a contractor, a hold for 1 hour at their hourly rate is placed on your card via Stripe. After the job is completed and both parties confirm, the final amount is captured based on time worked.
Mr.GC has a built-in dispute resolution process. If you are unsatisfied, you can file a dispute before confirming job completion. Our system uses AI-powered severity classification combined with human arbitration to ensure a fair outcome for both parties. Funds remain in escrow until the dispute is resolved.
The OTP (One-Time Password) is a 4-digit code sent to you when your contractor is en route. You share this code with the contractor upon arrival to verify they have physically reached your location. This prevents fraudulent check-ins and ensures the work timer only starts when the contractor is actually on site.
Yes. After AI analyzes your photos, you are taken to a contractor browser where you can view verified, licensed professionals matched to your needs. You can compare ratings, hourly rates, tier levels, and reviews before selecting the contractor you prefer. There is no automatic assignment unless you opt for Rush Service.
Rush Service is a premium option for urgent repairs. For a flat $300 fee, Mr.GC automatically matches you with the best available contractor within 2 hours. If no contractor is available within that window, you receive a full refund. The $300 fee is a platform fee and is separate from the contractor's hourly rate.

Contractor FAQ

Verification is automatic. When you sign up and provide your license information, Mr.GC cross-references it against NYC DOB, ECB, and DEP license databases. Once verified, your profile displays a verified badge and you become eligible for job matching. The process typically completes within minutes.
Payment is processed immediately after the customer confirms job completion. Funds are deposited directly to your bank account via Stripe Connect. There is no invoicing or waiting period. Both the customer and you must confirm the work is complete before settlement is triggered.
Mr.GC uses a four-tier system based on your track record. You start at Standard (12% commission). As you complete more jobs and maintain high ratings, you advance: Verified (11%, 5+ jobs, 4.0+ rating), Pro (10%, 20+ jobs, 4.5+), and Elite (9%, 50+ jobs, 4.8+). Higher tiers mean you keep more of every job.
If a customer files a dispute, the funds remain in escrow while the issue is reviewed. Mr.GC uses AI-powered classification to assess dispute severity, followed by human arbitration when needed. You will be contacted for your side of the story, and a fair resolution is reached based on the evidence from both parties.
Yes. You have full control over your hourly rate. When a customer selects you, they see your rate upfront before confirming. There is no price negotiation or bidding. Customers choose based on your rate, ratings, and qualifications. You can update your rate at any time from your profile settings.
Mr.GC offers a referral program for contractors. When you refer a new contractor who signs up and completes their first job, both you and the referred contractor receive a bonus. Referral links are available in your dashboard, and you can track the status of all your referrals in real time.
